Fixing up old cars that people thought were ready to be scrapped has been a passion of mine since I was about 12. I caught the bug from my uncle who still runs a garage up in Wayne, Maine. I just moved back to Maine and my uncle is going to let me use the garage after hours to work on restoring some classics. He'll be chipping in some, too, but more with the money end of things, then we plan on selling the cars once restored.

I can find most modern parts but I'll need a whole new network for classic parts. If you're into restoration at all, where are you buying your classic parts?

I have the passion but I just don't have the cash for it right now. Between myself and my spouse we have four different vehicles that we would love to get our hands on. A friend of mine does this and I swear he must have the patience of a saint because he will hunt for online deals all over the country in order to find what he needs for his 70s camaro.

Where does he hunt online, carlove? Is he just Googling the parts he needs and hoping to find one for sale? Or does he use specific websites or classified ads? I haven't had much luck Googling which is why I'm looking for better sources.

Samson, have you tried eBay for people selling old parts? Are you just looking for in and around Maine? Sometimes you can find old parts in junk yards, if there are any around you.

I see a lot of people selling parts on forums like this one actually. Most places have a sell or trade area for those that are looking for parts, especially the hard to find ones.
